Located on Fifth Avenue, facing the Metropolitan Museum, this 2-bedroom apartment called for a partial renovation. The clients requested a more open feel in a relatively dark apartment, while maintaining a certain level of privacy. An impression of openness was created by sharing light between rooms, replacing walls with steel doors containing wire-mesh glass, and creating new window openings to the rear courtyard, all brightening the more streamlined space through the insertion of rich materials. Another concern was maximizing storage by consolidating closets and cabinets and creating an overall more functional space.
